Matrix N-Series The Enterasys Matrix N-Series is the fourth
generation of flow-based switching from Enterasys. It can scale to fit any size
network. You can embed Dragon advanced security applications for IDS/IPS and NAC
as a daughter-card directly into the multi-gigabit switching fabric with the
Enterasys Matrix Security Module.
Users benefit from granular, firewall type of control of access,
authentication, authorization, bandwidth, protocols, applications and users.
Visibility is extended beyond the port or the VLAN to the individual
conversation. Role-based policy control is extended to thousands of users or
devices attached to third-party networking equipment, wireless infrastructure or
VPN concentrators. It is all based on an open architecture built using industry
standards for multi-vendor interoperability to protect your assets.
The N-Series is built with distributed fault tolerance and a multi-terabit
backplane. The blades that slide into the N-Series chassis are Distributed
Forwarding Engines that fully join together switching, routing and management
functions. There is no switching fabric bottleneck or central supervisor module
that could cause the whole chassis to fail. With the N-Series, every blade
inspects and classifies incoming traffic.
