The HP ProCurve Switch 1700 Series are available in two different port configurations. A 24-port switch with 22 10/100 ports plus 2 dual-personality ports, and a 8-port switch with 7 10/100 ports and one 10/100/1000 port. Workgroup security, support for up to 64 port-based VLANs, and dynamic configuration of IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tagging are enabled through the use of Layer 2 switching.

The HP ProCurve Switch 1700 Series are designed for quiet operation, and utilize fanless, Web-managed switches. Combined with a small form-factor, this makes them ideal for desktop use or installation in an open office environment. Simple management of switch configuration, monitoring, and administration is made available through the included intuitive Web interface.
