HP Overview
Hewlett Packard (HP) was founded in 1939 in a garage in Palo Alto,
California by Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard. The company's first product
was an audio oscillator, which was an electronic test instrument used by
sound engineers. One of HP's first customers was Walt Disney Studios,
which purchased eight oscillators to develop and test the various
channels, recording equipment and speaker systems in the twelve
specially-equipped theaters that showed Disney's Fantasia in 1940.
Throughout the decades, HP continued to invent products that paved the
way for the high tech industry today. Some of these products include
oscillators, wave analyzers, cameras, recorders, computers, calculators,
plotters and PDA’s.
Today, HP operates in more than 170 countries around the world. They explore
how technology and services can help people and companies address their problems
and challenges, and realize their possibilities, aspirations and dreams. They
apply new thinking and ideas to create more simple, valuable and trusted
experiences with technology, while continuously improving the way their
customers live and work.
No other company offers as complete a technology product line as HP. They
provide infrastructure and business offerings that extend from handheld devices
to some of the most powerful supercomputer installations. They offer consumers a
wide range of products and services from digital photography to digital
entertainment, storage and servers, managed services and software, and from
computing to home printing. This wide-range portfolio helps them match the right
products, services and solutions to their customers' specific needs.
